Moments of Grace Online Daybook (3/2/14) & Project Snapshot Mondays Vol 2

Today is Day 7 of my participation in Jen’s 7 Posts in 7 Days Challenge.

I was originally going to write my LENT 2014 post for today but I didn’t get to finish it so I am posting Monday’s Daybook today instead. (I’ll hopefully have the lent post down by tomorrow.)

I’m linking up my daybook with Jenny and I’m linking up my photo with Pam forΒ  Project Snapshot Mondays. Scroll down to the bottom for that one.

AND

Moments of Gratitude…

Today I am especially thankful for

  • A lovely visit with my mom last week. I’ve been trying to spend more time with family. I miss my parents and siblings and I’m making an effort to get together with them more often!
  • This past month having Brian at home. Although he was recovering, it was a treat spending so much time with him.
  • That Brian is well enough to go back to work tomorrow, at least part time. (Although I am REALLY going to miss having him here with me.)
  • For another 4 day weekend coming up. Hopefully we can plan a family outing before Brian starts his chemo next Monday.
  • For yesterday’s storm that gave us some much needed rain.

Beauty in the Ordinary…

The surrounding brown hills are turning a lovely shade of green after the rain and the days are getting longer. Spring is just around the corner. πŸ™‚

In the Kitchen…

M – Chicken Cacciatore with Brown Rice

T –Β Fat Tuesday Treat – Eat Out

W – Tuna Melts & Tomato Soup

Th – Tostadas

F – Vegetarian Chili and Easy Chili Cornbread

S – Homemade Pizza & Greek Salad

S – Leftovers

Praying…

  • For Brian’s continued recovery from cancer and for the chemo treatments that start March 10.
  • For all those suffering from illness, addiction and depression.
  • For all those who are pregnant, especially family and friends.
  • For those suffering the cross of infertility and those who have lost a child in miscarriage.
  • For the safety of our deployed military and for their families waiting for them at home.
  • For the conversion of sinners and the souls in purgatory.
  • For some special intentions.

Pondering…

I am putting the finishing touches on my Lenten plan. I am thankfulfor the grace to work on it now and not waiting until a couple weeks into Lent. πŸ˜‰

Around the house…

This week I need to clear off my desk area and my dining room table. I have let it slide and want it neat and clean again!

Reading…

I completely forgot that I had The Book of Thoth (Vatican Vampire Hunters #2) on my Kindle so I started it last night, although on Wednesday I’ll start my Lenten reads but I’ll save that for another post.

Listening to…

The Academy Awards, specifically the performance of the song “Happy” from Despicable Me.Β  I’ll admit that I DVR the showΒ  and fast forward a lot of it but there are still parts I enjoy.

On my DVR…

When Calls the Heart, Fr Brown Mysteries, The Walking Dead, Blacklist, EWTN’s Grab Your Catechism and the movies Leave Her to Heaven and Shop around the Corner.

On the blog…

I actually completed all 7 posts in the 7 day challenge. I couldn’t keep up that pace all the time but it was fun for the week. πŸ™‚ Tomorrow or Tuesday by the latest I’ll have my Lenten Ideas posted.

Plans for the Week…

Doc appointments, school functions and a 4 day weekend.

Captured…

(I am linking up this photo with Pam for Project Snapshot Mondays.

This weekend I took a little time to handwrite some notes and cards to people. Although I could email or text much faster there is something special about getting an old school letter in the mail. When I was done I was adding a little washi tape to pretty up the envelope and I was admiring the bright colors in my washi box. Note cards, pens, washi, all those little crafty things and stationary brings me a touch of joy.

Thanks to Jen and Pam for hosting! πŸ™‚

  • I totally forgot about Jen’s 7 in 7 challenge.

I’m drooling over that washi tape — I have no idea what I’d do with it, but the bright and cheery colors are a huge pick me up. Love that box, too!

    Stopping by from Plain Grace.

Thanks for stopping by, Dianna. Sometimes when I’m almost done with a roll, I’ll leave a little on just because it is so pretty in the box. LOL πŸ˜‰

Yeah for Brian going back to work! I know that I felt better mentally when I stepped back up to being productive at work. I’ve been able to continue working during chemo, with a little flexibility from my boss as far as schedule. I’m tired, but able. Which is good, because now is NOT the time to compromise your health insurance coverage!

Brian, ‘chemo brain’ is a real thing, and you’re going to get a bit forgetful. It’s more of a nuisance than an actual hinderance. I’m able to keep up because I’m a habitual list maker. I am also backing up my computer/electronic/phone planner with a paper planner. I write my medication schedule on the bathroom mirror with an Expo Marker. REALLY important stuff? Well, I make sure at least two other people know about it so they can remind me!! πŸ™‚ I’ve also misplaced my phone a dozen times in the past few weeks, and I had a momentary scare when I got lost driving someplace I’ve been going to regularly for more than twenty years.

Do take the time to go somewhere before the chemo starts. At first, you will have to limit excursions out of the house (including church, if your parish is on high flu season lockdown!) until the doctors are sure your white blood cell counts can stay high enough to keep you well. Chemo, while it’s doing a great job killing the cancer cells, also suppresses your natural immune system, so it’s super easy to pick up germ-bugs and get really sick very fast. Wash you hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!!

Brian, you CAN DO THIS!! Remember it’s not that awful, and it doesn’t last forever. Bobbi, you can relate to this: the worst of the symptoms are very similar to morning sickness. You know, nausea, fatigue, muscle aches and that general out of sorts sensation. My advice for this week – stay away from the Self-Pity Pit. It has a crumbly edge and is much harder to climb out of that it is to just avoid it in the first place. I’ve been making an extra effort to carry my thanks to God in prayer, to recognize the abundant blessings in my life. Heck, even chemo has it’s silver lining. Being bald cuts substantial time off of getting dressed in the morning!

    Prayers for all of you!

Praying for you and Brian. Also I love your washi box. I have mine in a cute plastic tote I bought at target. I have a few rolls I carry with me & my planner. I do try to switch out (which reminds me I need to switch out lol). I also have my stickers in smaller plastic totes (like smaller than shoe size) that are by season. Which reminds me I need some for St. Patrick’s and Easter. Do they even make Lent stickers? I bet hallmark won’t have them. Can’t wait to read your Lent plan. Will keep praying for your family!! Now to go write my post lol.

Thanks for the prayers, Aleighanne. It means a lot! It is nice to hear from someone else that loves washi, stickers and planners. I’ve never outgrown that. I keep my stickers in a binder filled with plastic sheet protectors. Each protector has a sticker theme/season. It was hard decorating my planner calendar for March since I didn’t really want to make it spring like until after Lent and there aren’t really lent stickers that I know of. I just used a lot of purple ink. πŸ™‚ You said you are going to write your post. Do you have a blog? Thanks for stopping by!

Praying for you and Brian! I hope and pray that he grows stronger each day. I’ll officially write his name in my book.
Also – take a small baggie and a mustard seed in it, ( \remember the verse about the mustard seed being so tiny and growing into such a BIG plant? God is powerful and He will heal Brian, I pray.) write your prayer intentions on a piece of paper and put them in the same baggie. Pray over it and put it in your Bible. Great things will happen.
    I love that song Happy!
And now I need a Washi-Tape Box mine is stashed in a 31 Bin. I am a paper crafter, so you see I NEED IT! ha
    Have a great week.
    Blessings,
    Em

Aw, thanks so much, Em. I read your email to Brian and the first thing he asked was “where do we go to get a mustard seed??” πŸ™‚ We do appreciate the prayers!! I am a paper crafter of sorts. I collect blank journals, stationary and now wash tape. I just got into Project Life…now i just need to print off the hundreds of photos I’ve taken! Thanks again for stopping by. πŸ™‚

My friend Rebecca (who was my maid-of-honor and is one of Daniel’s godmother) has a blog where she posts her adventures with washi tape. It’s at http://blog.literaryspring.com/

  • LOVE the washi tape. I have not used it, but that colorful box makes it look so tempting.

  • Love your new place, btw.
