Friday Favorites & Link-up (Vol. 22): Dapper Day Spring 2019 Edition

Happy Friday, friends! Welcome to Friday Favorites. I’m glad you could join me!

This week’s favorites are inspired by my upcoming to trip to Disneyland. Bella and I planned an impromptu mother-daughter trip at the beginning of her spring break.

It lands out that Sunday, April 14 is also Dapper Day at Disneyland. It is a day that celebrates elegant styles from yesterday and today.

There is an expo at Disneyland Hotel and guests of the expo are invited to dress up in their most dapper clothes while visiting the parks. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m not a dress person, but after reading about the day Bella and I decided to participate. I will dress up in a 50’s style and Bella will be Disneybounding. See my favorites below for details!

Since I have seven faves, I’m also linking up with Kelly for 7 Quick Takes.

This Week’s Fave Activity

Road Tripping to Disneyland

I grew up going to Disneyland with my family and I was excited for the day I could do the same with my own family. For Brian and the boys, one big Disney trip a year is enough for them. However, Bella and I *love* going to Disneyland and once a year is not enough! So we started to take more frequent trips by ourselves.

The last time my mom went to Disneyland with us in Feb 2018

My mom and my sister Jacinta would often join us on these girls weekends and they are some of my favorite memories. This will be my first trip to Disneyland since my mom’s death, so I have conflicting emotions. However, I know she would want nothing more than for Bella and me to have fun and make mother-daughter memories so that’s exactly what I’ll do.

This Week’s Fave Piece of Clothing

Nemidor Vintage 50’s Style Dress

When I searched Amazon for 50’s style dresses, I fell in love with this navy and white dot polka dress. The fact that it came in plus size was the icing on the cake. I tried it on with fingers crossed and I was happy to find that the style was cute and the cut was forgiving. It’s the perfect dress for my first Dapper Day outing.

This Week’s Necklace

Jane Stone
Necklace and Earrings Set

I wanted to brighten up the dress so I added some red accessories. Pearls and earrings are a must for a 50’s dress, but the red color is more whimsical that a traditional white.

This Week’s Fave Bracelets

Uniklook Chic Urban Stack Bracelets

I didn’t buy these Uniklook bracelets for this outfit, but they were originally purchased on Amazon. I’ll add one or two to my outfit.

This Week’s Fave Purse

Purse

Lastly, you can’t have a vintage style dress without a matching vintage style purse. I thought this one from Donalworld would fit the bill perfectly since they matched the red flats I’m wearing. (There is no way I’d wear heels walking all day!)

This Week’s FaveDisneybound Outfit

Aladdin

At Disneyland, children are allowed to enter the park in a Disney costume. However, teens and adults cannot, unless it’s for their Halloween party. To work around the rule, Disney fans will do what’s called Disneybounding. Basically you wear a normal outfit that is inspired by a favorite Disney character. It has the spirit and feel of the character, without actually being a costume. For Bella, she loves Aladdin so she will wear something similar to this Disneybounding outfit. πŸ™‚

Those are my favorites of the week! What have you been enjoying?

Have a great weekend!

31 Days of Gratitude (Day 21): Five Minute Friday – Park

fmf_park

Today I am linking up with Kate for Five Minute Friday: Park.

Happy Friday! Today is Day 21 of #write31days challenge and my 31 Days of Gratitude 2016. I’ve got the three boys home today and I promised them we would finally get out the fall decor and decorate the house (since I never got beyond decorating the front porch.) However, while they are doing a quick morning clean up (the threat of no playtime until it is done is good incentive), I am going to participate in Five Minute Friday. I did my first last week and it was so much fun, here I am again. πŸ™‚

The rule is to write 5-minutes straight about the topic of the day, more specifically, as the blog states, “This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write.” Okay, setting the timer and go…

RevolutionofLove.com - 31_days_2016_dlw2

Earlier this morning I was looking through a computer file of old photos and I found one from a past trip to Disneyland Park. The boys were in the room with me and they asked if I could start from the beginning and look at the photos with me.

We went to the beginning when Bella was the only child of the family. I remember that first trip to Disneyland Park so vividly. I had so many fond memories of visiting DL with my family as a kid and a teen and I was eager to give her the same memories. As the boys and I scrolled though the photos we saw Andrew, John-Paul and Matthew as they were babies and as they got older, laughing and playing.

Sure there were also meltdown and babies that had accidents (and forgot to put the change of clothes in my backpack) but all the fun far outweighed it.

This year we will go pack to the Disney Parks when we visit my family at Thanksgiving. We thought my mom wouldn’t be able to join us after her cancer surgery over the summer but the other day, she changed her mind and said she wanted to keep up the tradition of joining us for our annual visit.

Now I’m counting down the days until I once again roam the park with my kids, laugh on rides with them and hug my mom and remember the joy I felt of being by her side on these special trips. πŸ™‚

STOP.

That was fun! And I couldn’t help but add a little collage of trips to Disneyland Park over the years. πŸ™‚

For all the great memories I have with my family (past and current) and for future memories to come, I am truly grateful. πŸ™‚

Have a great Friday! Don’t forget today is the last day to link-up for Weekly Writing in October. (If you are doing 31 Days, just add your favorite post.) The new link-up for Week 3 will be up tomorrow morning.

Catching Up: Road Trip, Disneyland & A Baby Shower

RevolutionofLove.com - DL_logo_5_16_fThe last few times I posted it was about my father-in-law’s passing and his funeral. My emotions were bittersweet and tear stained. Thankfully, today I am feeling nothing but gratitude and joy after a great weekend road trip.

My sister Bridgette and brother-in-law Mick (the one you were praying for when he was stationed in Afghanistan last year) are celebrating the upcoming birth of their first child. We decided that Bella and I would attend the baby shower and Brian would stay home with the little guys to have a father-sons bonding weekend. The boys were so excited. There were plans for sleeping bags on the floor, sports outside and snacks that mom normally wouldn’t allow. πŸ˜‰

RevolutionofLove.com - disneyland_5_16_aBella and I were excited to have a mother daughter weekend and since we are the two Disneyland junkies of the family, we left a day early to spend Friday at Disneyland.

Revolution of Love.com - disneyland_5_16_bWe were blessed to attend on a school day (we happened to be off) so the crowds were relatively thin and in the morning we hit all the major rides with less than a 5 minute wait time in each. (That’s a Disney miracle.) It was nice to do all the things we normally can’t with the younger boys.

Revolution of Love.com - disneyland_5_16_eWe had a blast and kicked butt with our fitbit walking – 20,000 steps in a day!! That’s a record for me.

Revolution of Love.com - disneyland_5_16_cI would have lost some weight had I not counteracted it with yummy treats like this. πŸ˜‰

Revolution of Love.com - disneyland_5_16_gBy the end of the day I was so tired I could have cried but I had so much fun they would have been happy tears.

The rest of the weekend was spent with family and friends and it was just what I needed. I can only go so long until I need my familia fix – hugs from my parents and siblings and laughter all around. I was especially happy to spend time with my mom since she hasn’t been feeling well lately. (Please keep her health in your prayers.)

Revolution of Love.com - shower_collage_smOn Sunday we had Bridge and Mick’s baby shower. So fun!

Revolution of Love.com - shower_5_16_bBella met her new little cousins Gracie (above) and Keith.

Revolution of Love.com - shower_5_16_aMy sister Jacinta and her “mini me” Bella.

Revolution of Love.com - shower_5_16_fI was excited to get together with my sister Elena who flew in from Virginia. She is also a blogging buddy and is in the process of redoing her blog. Stay tuned!

The entire weekend was just what my heart needed but I was missing my big fella and three little guys. I was eager to get back home on Monday.

Revolution of Love.com - shower_5_16_gI drove into the driveway and saw Brian playing with the three boys. When they turned around and saw us the boys ran over to hug us. John-Paul even had tears in his eyes and I couldn’t help but tear up myself. It was so good to be home!

Life seems to go in waves of peaks and valleys. God blessed me with an incredible respite from all the heart ache but now it is back to reality and back to work. Hopefully I’ll also have more time to hang around here more often. πŸ˜‰ Have a great week!
