Mary, Mother of Christ Movie

Here is the latest news on the upcoming movie.

Camilla Belle (Push, 10,000 BC), Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Peter O’Toole will star in Aloe Entertainment’s faith-based film Mary, Mother of Christ.
Belle has been cast as Mary. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will take on the double role of Gabriel and Lucifer, while Peter O’Toole is set as Symeon, who meets Mary and her family in the temple shortly after Jesus’ birth.
The filmmakers are also seeking Al Pacino and Jessica Lange for the respective roles of Herod and Anna the Prophetess. Earlier this week Pacino signed on to star in a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear.
Argentinean director Alejandro Agresti (The Lake House) will direct the film, scheduled to begin shooting in May in Morocco with production partner Dune Films. Benedict Fitzgerald, who co-wrote Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, wrote the screenplay with Barbara Nicolosi.
The film will follow Mary’s youth, young love, her life as a new mother and the triumph through the absolute terror of Herod the Great’s reign.
The film will open April 2, 2010, which coincides with Good Friday.

Does anybody else find this upcoming movie disturbing and just another way to exalt Mary? We know nothing of her childhood, motherhood, her love life or anything. The focus of the Bible is Jesus Christ, not Mary. God did not see fit to include information about Mary under the guidance of the Holy Spirit through any of His disciples because it is not significant.
Shouldn’t we be keeping he main thing the main thing?

Here we go again…someone is offended by the attention given to the Mother of our Lord Jesus! What an insult to Jesus to downplay Mary’s incredible role in history! Just because Mary was not heavily mentioned in the Bible does not mean that her importance should be diminished…She said yes to what was to happen to her, the Christ was to be in her womb, flesh of her flesh, blood of her blood, nurished through her body & yet she is regularly insulted without any qualm…do you not fear the consequence of your distain for Jesus’ very Mother? We must remember that Jesus has a Mother, on the cross, Jesus said, to John..Son behold your Mother….Mother behold your Son, at that point Jesus was giving Mary to the world as the Mother of all since he is the Lord of all & his Mother must be venerated, not worshipped, we must give high reguard to Mary, she is the Mother of Jesus Christ…which is the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. (he who has seen me has seen my father which is in heaven) Never offend The Virgin Mary, she is the Queen of Heaven. Would you talk badly about your own Mother or your friend’s Mother? Then don’t do it to Jesus’ Mother.
