On the weekends I try to stay off the computer as much as I can so I can spend time with my family. I treasure the more leisurely days of the weekend and am grateful for the time we have to be more playful or relax and enjoy each others company.
With that in mind, I will use Saturdays to give you a quick recap of my second October challenge – #LoveYourLettering with Lisa at Creativlei.com. π
On Day 11 we practiced writing Pangrams (sentences that incorporate each letter of the alphabet) and then we had to letter a quote in any method we’ve learned so far.

Days 12
Day 12 we practiced writing with a Calligraphy marker making basic letter forms.

Day 13
On Day 13 we practiced printing with a Calligraphy marker. There were two rows of each series, holding the pen at different angels.

Days 14-17
Lisa is out of town for the weekend so we have a few days to catch up and practice our letters. It worked out perfectly for me since I was already a little behind but I’m caught up now.
Day 15 was National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Lisa remembered her baby girl who passed away at 28 days old. I remembered our two babies we lost in early miscarriage. (We felt they were boys and named them Victor and Joseph.)
Today I practiced words I could write on a note card to a friend.

If you want to check out other people taking the class with me, search the hashtag #LoveYourLettering on Instagram. There are so many amazingly talented participants on there!
Happy Friday, everyone! I am feeling a little better today (I have a stomach bug), the kids are off of school today and they are playing relatively quietly with their Legos so I have about 20 minutes uninterrupted time until I have to break up a fight or tell them to stop jumping off he bunk beds. So let’s get this done! (Warning, I will be listening to copious amounts of Silversun Pickups while writing.)

It is day 16 of #wrtie31days and my theme of 31 Days of Gratitude. I have actually posted every day so far and that in itself is an accomplishment for me. Usually I am all gung-ho about something and then a few days into it the novelty wears off and I’m ready to leave and jump into a new shinier project. Yeah, it’s not a pretty trait but it is something I am constantly working on. Thankfully God has been giving me the grace to learn how to persevere and follow through. It is not easy and I have a long way to go but for God’s grace and the baby steps and progress I’ve made, I am truly thankful!

I finally got my #write31days tee in the mail yesterday. Cristina over at HandmaidEmbroidery.com challenged us to take a selfie with our tee so here it is. π

I was catching up on some blogs yesterday and I saw that Micaela has taken over hosting duties of the Theme Thursday photo challenge. I will miss Cari’s hosting but I can’t think of a better person to carry on. Micaela is one of those people that amazes me with her talents. π (I also got to meet here at the CWBNCA in spring. Heck, when is our next conference?? I am missing you guys!)
This week’s theme is sun flares. The sun is not out now so I’ll post this one I took the other day.
I don’t really like the way it came out (too dark) but it has the sun flares.

And speaking of awesome blog link up hosts, Kelly’s Link-toberfest continues! This week’s question is “Who is your favorite blogger that you discovered through Quick Takes?β
To be honest with you, it’s hard for me to remember who I originally met through 7 Quick Takes but I do know that a favorite blogger I started reading regularly because of 7QT is the awesome Karianna Frey! Back then she blogged at Caffeinated Catholic Mama. She has since started a new blog Best Bib and Tucker.
I love Karianna’s energy and style but when I met her in real life in spring at the CWBNCA Conference 2015then that sealed the deal! I love reading her blog and watching her Periscopes. π

I just saw these in the Blessed Is She shop. There are so many new products – Tees, mugs, phone covers, kiddo clothes. Go check it out!
Okay, my time is up and there were only two minor brawls to break up. π Have a great Friday! I’ll be back tomorrow with a recap of this weeks #LoveYourLettering challenge. (Um, I better catch up on my assignments first!)
I am half way through my #write31days challenge and this is just about the time my enthusiasm starts to wane and I don’t have time to write meaty posts. So instead of just skipping the day I thought it would be fun to celebrate National I Love Lucy Day! It was on this day in 1951 that I Love Lucy first premiered. Who would have known that it would be this popular so many decades later.
For me, Lucy brings me back to my youth. It fills me with memories of laughter and goofing around with my family. Watching a favorite episode is like comfort food for the soul. My family will quote lines of the show in everyday conversation – “I’ll be the tag-along Mertz,” OR “I’m feeling dauncy.” OR “She might be people, but she’d not like you and me,” to name a few.
It’s silly in the grand scheme of things but I love being able to think about all the memories these clips evoke. I love the fun we still have when we get together for holidays and watch an episode while eating dessert. It’s become a tradition. Now that I am older, I am able to share the same laughs with my own kids.
So for the gift of laughter, for the talent of the actors and those that made the show and for the memories they invoke, I am truly grateful. π
I wanted to show you my Top 10 Lucy episodes but it was nearly impossible to narrow it down. So here are some of my favorites with many more left unlisted.
PPS – Want to own the IΒ Love Lucy series on DVD so you can watch it any time? Use this affiliated link. (I get a small compensation that goes towards keeping the blog online. Thx! π )
I’m afraid I am going to have to cheat today. I think I have a stomach bug so I am not feeling well. So for today’s post, here is a quote from last year’s gratitude series. It’s still something worth remembering!Β (Please say a little prayer that I am better soon. Mamas don’t have time to be sick! Thanks!)
