iBand Feliz Navidad
Here is a little Christmas video treat for you to enjoy a techno performance of Feliz Navidad using ipads and iphones. Thanks to @ozycatholic on twitter for the heads up! Oh, and I sooo want to play the iphone tambourine if we ever do this live. š
{pretty, happy, funny, real} – vol 17
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is decorating the Christmas tree. I love the smell of the pine, the sound of the Christmas music and watching Brian and the kids put up decorations we’ve collected over the past decade. Love it!
The final results may not be “professional” but I’ve finally learned to appreciate the creative chaos and not redecorate the tree (well, not much) once the kids are done. š
This is Matthew’s first Christmas and he is all smiles. I like the way it looks like a little bird is whispering something in his ear. LOL.
I think Matthew and John-Paul have an unwritten agreement that JP will drop his leftover food on the floor so Matty can finish eating it. Here he found a strawberry…
Here a banana…
Which was cute, until I had to clean up the mess!
And for the unbelievable “real” – the Packers are still undefeated. Here are Brian and the boys cheering the game at my parent’s house. Go Pack!
(UPDATE: It was a sad, sad day in our house when they lost their first game a week later. Sigh.)
Favorite Christmas Music
Yesterday I looking over this post from last year.
When it comes to Christmas tunes, I am a sucker for the classic crooning of Bing Crosby and Nate King Cole. Today, however, I have been in the mood for a change of pace and have been loving Christmas a la Relient K and Sixpense None the Richer. Falalalala!
This year (2011) I am in love with Michael Buble’s Christmas album. Love it.
Next, when I am in the mood for a coffee shop Christmas, I listen to A Very She & Him Christmas. I love Zooey’s voice and it makes me think of my little sister J. š (But it also makes me want to watch Elf. š
Lastly, I’ve been enjoying this older album I got from my mom – Third Day’s Christmas Offerings. It’s been re-released as a CD & DVD combo pack of the concert. I really like the lead singer’s gruff voice and their take on Christmas classics.
What are your favorite Christmas albums?
The Mysteries of the Rosary Prints
A number of families I know pray the rosary every night with their family. I commend them! For us, it has not worked out very well, but rather than forget the whole thing, we’ve adjusted it to our family needs. Instead, we try to say the rosary but with only one decade. As the kids get older, we can increase the time we expect them to kneel semi-quietly. Each week we take one set of mysteries and we cover the five from M-F. It doesn’t always work. Some nights we’re lucky to gather us all together for a quick night prayer but we do what we can.
I have been looking for rosary prints to display during our rosary to help us focus on that night’s mystery. I finally found a set that included the luminous mysteries. It is The Mysteries of the Rosary Prints from EWTN’s online catalog. I bought a tabletop easel at Target and it works great together. If you are looking for rosary prints, I really recommend them! š
UPDATE – Here is the latest post about how we pray the rosary at night – A Sacred Space for Prayer.
