Michelle Duggar: Model of Motherhood?

Danielle Bean has an interesting post at Faith & Family about Michelle Duggar called The Force of Femininity. Michelle has taken a lot of abuse from the secular world, regarding everything from her giving birth to 18 kids to her hair style. When I first started watching the show I thought she seemed a little fake – how could someone be so “sweet” and calm in the midst of family life chaos? But after watching the show for a year or two, I can see that it is not fake. That’s the way she is and how she lives her life as a wife and mother.
It brings to mind the other reality show Jon and Kate Plus Eight. I used to love the show when it first started. Watching the kids grow up was fascinating but I had to stop after awhile because I couldn’t stomach the nastiness of Kate towards her husband and the lack of charity all around. It is heartbreaking, but not surprising, to see the situation they are in now.
You can’t help but notice the stark contrast between these two ladies and how they react to their husband and children. No one is perfect but Michelle is a humbling reminder to me that I need to be more like her… I need to bite my tongue when the sarcastic remark is about to escape or to take a deep breath before I lose my cool when Andrew dumps out the trash can…again. It is a reminder that my vocation as a wife and mother is a gift from God and I serve Him by serving them. I may never be as calm and patient as Michelle seems to be, but Ive learned that adding a little more sweetness to family life can make things run a heck of a lot smoother and happier!

Pregnancy Belly Band

Now that my belly is well on it’s way towards pregnancy hugeness, I was looking for a way to stay in my fave jeans for as long as possible. I came across the Belly Bands Combo that turns your regular jeans or pants into preggers-friendly clothes. I gave it a try and so far I love it! I am still on the shorter extender but most likely in another month or so, I will need the larger extender. If you are in the same situation, check it out!
UPDATE: Our baby has since been born but I wanted to let you know that I never wore maternity pants during this pregnancy. With the belly band I was able to wear my regular jeans throughout, even at the end when I was huge!

Humor: Pregnancy Q & A

I was browsing the Phatmass Phorum and came across this funny post from awhile back. It seemed appropriate since I am feeling very pregnant at the moment. šŸ™‚

PREGNANCY Q & A & more!
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q : I’m two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q : What is the most reliable method to determine a baby’s sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she’s borderline irrational.
A: So what’s your question?
Q : My childbirth instructor says it’s not pain I’ll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you’re pregnant.
Q : Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word ‘alimony’ means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q : Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby’s diaper very quickly.
Q : Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.
