Revolution of Love

Revolution of Love

Do small things with great love.

Catholic Woman’s Almanac (11/26/12) – Vol 5

Hosted by Jenny at Suscipio.

Moments of Gratitude…

  • A wonderful trip visiting my family in So Cal.
  • A safe drive.
  • The joy of having our own little home to come back to.
  • The smells of Christmas.
  • Having 1/2 of my Christmas shopping done. (For my procrastinating self, that is great.)

Beauty in the Ordinary…

I love hearing the kids giggle as they are playing with one another.

From the Kitchen…
I’ve got a few items that need to be eaten this week so my weekly menu will take advantage of that.

  • Mon – Brian is home and I’ll be running errands all afternoon so it’s Take Out night – Chipotles
  • Tues – (Ricotta cheese) Lasagna & Salad
  • Wed – (Charizo & Tortillas) Tosatadas
  • Thurs – Chef Salad & homemade bread (does a bread machine count as homemade?)
  • Fri – Tuna Melts & Veggies
  • Sat – Pizza & Salad
  • Sun – Dinner at my in-laws.

Praying…

  • For my sis on her birthday today! (and for my little niece or nephew that she is growing. šŸ™‚ )
  • For our friend sick with cancer. It has moved quickly and the prognosis is not good unless God grants a miracle.
  • For all those who are alone, in need or depressed this Christmas season.
  • For a number of special intentions, including for M., J., & A.

Pondering…

My need to make the most of the upcoming Advent season to prepare my heart for Christ and not get caught up in the busyness of it all.

Reading…
The Hobbit (It has been years since I last read it and I wanted to refresh my memory before I see the movie.)

Around the House…

Suitcases that need to be unpacked, laundry that needs to be washed and toys from Disneyland that need to be put away.

Listening to…

That little voice in my head that is saying I should get off the computer and clean up all the stuff around the house. (I, in return, keep saying…just 5 more minutes.)

Working on…
Tomorrow’s blog post for Making It Count Tuesday Link Up. Share any recipes, projects, crafts or lessons you’ve been working on!

Posts I’ve Starred in Google Reader…

  • What Co-Creation Really Feels Like by Betty Duffy (I can relate since I had a hard time accepting my last pregnancy when it happened, but now I wouldn’t trade my happy little guy for anything in the world.)

Items I’ve Pinned…

What I’ve Been Watching

I haven’t had a chance to sit down and watch anything, which is why my DVR is at 95%. It’s deleting time.

Plans for the Week…

  • Order a few things the kids need before Cyber Monday is over, including a DVD of Nicholas, the Boy Who Became Santa. Luckily, Jenny just posted a link for it.
  • Work on my Advent calendar.
  • Contact the guy who hosts my blog and get the move to WordPress completed now that I’m back from our vacation.

Captured…

My parents live in the High Dessert (hot in summer/snow in winter) and Matthew was ecstatic about his play time in the dirt.

The only thing that topped it off was being able to throw rocks into a puddle of water, Pure boy heaven.

Have a great day!

Moments of Gratitude
With a change of schedule and a couple kiddos under the weather, I landed out going to Confession, Ā½ hr of Adoration and Mass alone on Saturday evening. That quiet time away was just what I needed. Lately I have been feeling God calling me to quiet down and draw closer to Him. It was just the spiritual recharge I needed, especially as I am trying to make the most of this Year of Faith in my spiritual growth.
Beauty in the Ordinary
It has been a rainy day today and one of my favorite sounds of nature (besides the crashing of the waves and the wind rustling in the trees) is the sound of rain. Rain always reminds me of God’s grace washing over his loved ones.
From the Kitchen
I’ve been trying to clean out the freezer/fridge and with the leftovers I’ll make chili beans, pasta salad and chicken-apple sausage links. (Tomorrow for Making It Count Tuesday I’ll post about what I originally made with those sausage links.) šŸ™‚
Praying
Praying that Brian will feel better and to get rid of the bug he’s been fighting, for all the pregnant mams out there, for all the mamas at heart who are trying to conceive a child and for a special intention.
Pondering
How I stumbled onto Suscipio. I originally was at Priceless Fishers then I clicked onto a link to find out more about The Catholic Child’s Teaching Bible, which then led me to Suscipio and the Catholic Women’s Almanac. I had seen the CWA on a few blogs but never knew where it originated. I have been clicking around and have added the blog to my reader. Some great reading!
Reading
I love Jane Austin and Jane Eyre so when I came across the author Julie Klassen, who had the same love, I thought I’d give her historical romance novels a try. I just finished The Maid of Fairbourne Hall and The Apothecary’s Daughter. Now I’ve started her first novel The Lady of Milkweed Manor. When I finish that one I’ll post a review of what I read so far.
It takes me a lot longer to get through non-fiction books so I am only Ā½ way through The Popcak’s Beyond the Birds and The Bees.
For my spiritual reading am using The Imitation of Christ.
Memorizing
Brian’s cell and work phone number. LOL. I know it sounds crazy but I am so used to speed dialing or clicking his name on my iPhone that I never punch in the actual
numbers!

FOR TODAY – Monday, June 4, 2012
Outside my window… it is cold, grey and drizzly raining. I don’t think the sun will break through today.
I am thinking… that it has been awhile since I’ve posted to the blog, well, other than photos.
I wish… I wasn’t typing this with one hand because it’s going to take too long.
I am thankful… for the job promotion Brian received even if it means a change in our schedules.
In the kitchen… the boys are eating the last of my banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
I am wearing… coral peasant top, khaki shorts, and bare feet. Forget that. The temp has dropped and it’s raining now. Make that a long sleeve top, yoga pants and socks.
I am creating… my family household binder. (I’ll post pics soon.)
I am going… to mail my letter to Abigail, the little girl we sponsor in Mexico and post about her last letter to me. (It’s so touching!)
I am praying… for my friend Tim and his family.
I am reading… emails that are piling up in my inbox, the latest Catholic Digest and I’m wondering if I should download the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy or wait until next year.

I am hoping…
to have a number of new posts this week…if this cranky baby in my arms ever settles down and I get a chance to work on them.
I am looking forward to… summer vacation and sleeping in.
I am not looking forward to… keeping the kids busy for the 100+ days of vacation!
I am learning… how to take a deep breath and “go with the flow” because the day often does no go as you plan it to go.

I am hearing…
Lightning and Mater tipping tractors as the boys laugh hysterically and a teething Matthew settling down into a snore. Finally.
Around the house… there are a number of unfinished organizing projects.
I am pondering… the fact that my sister EL is so far away and I wish I could have been at my niece’s baptism this weekend.
A favorite quote for today… “It is better to give than to receive.”
One of my favorite things… going to the movies. It is so rare these days that going in a major treat!
A few plans for the rest of the week… On Thursday I’ll go to Bella’s end of the year class picnic and on Friday we celebrate Bella’s last day of school and Andrew’s 5th birthday!
From my photo journal… These were taken yesterday. As soon as the sun came out we went for a walk before the fog returned.
