Theme Thursday: Architecture

Today I am linking up with Cari for Theme Thursday: Architecture. Cari was talking about different online editing tool and she recommended PicMonkey. I tried it out and loved it a lot more than the other online editor I was using. I used PicMonkey for all the photos below.

I chose the Carmel Mission for my subject since I love the old missions and this one is near and dear to my heart. (This is where Brian and I were married and where our children were baptized.) It was a gloomy day and there was construction going on as they rebuild the roof and make everything earthquake safe. I also didn’t have time to go on the grounds so I just snapped a few photos of the basilica through the gate and around the chapel.

 Looking in from the gate.

Using the first photo, I cropped it and used the Cinerama filter.

Using the first photo, I cropped it and used the Urbane filter.

From the first photo, window detail.

On the wall near the chapel.

***

The patio in front of the chapel.

Above the chapel door. Daguerreotype filter.

***

The water font in the chapel. Burst filter.

***

The patio of the rectory. I don’t usually like foo-foo frames but this was pretty.

I hope you enjoyed it!

Oh Bobbi. You know how much I love where you live. And when I thought that nothing could compare with all the rocky beachscapes, you show this.

So beautiful. Thanks for the detailed versions of the first shot. I would have completely missed the lovely cross on top of the roof. It’s so delicate and airy, and in total contrast to the solid earthiness of the building.

As always, thanks for sharing your little patch of straight-up heaven.

    Oh how wonderful!

    Absolutely stunning!

My favorite architecture is definitely on churches, banks, and hospitals!

What an incredible place and beautiful photography. I think a lot of these should be matted and framed. You have a nice eye. And whatever editing tools you used were a great compliment.

I love them all…you’ve captured your church beautifully!

Lovely! I think I like the first patio picture the best.

What beautiful photographs! I think the patio is my favorite, although it is hard to pick. Thank you for sharing.

So, so lovely. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with the patio. Something about the perspective just draws me in.

Oh, this just melts my heart. I grew up in San Diego, went to college in Santa Barbara, and lived in Pasadena for 9 years. Missions are in my DNA, though I haven’t been to the Carmel one. I knew I was in love with your hometown from last week’s photos, but this week sealed it. 🙂

Too pretty! I think you are a better picture taker than you think. I should see about visiting Carmel when we are in CA for the wedding.
