31 Days of Gratitude (2015) Day 3 & #LoveYourLettering Recap Week 1

RevolutionofLove.com - 31 Days of Gratitude 2015logo_31_days15_B_500The 31 Day of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 3 of my 31 Days of Gratitude 2015.

On the weekends I try to stay off the computer as much as I can so I can spend time with my family. I treasure the more leisurely days of the weekend (theoretically speaking) and am grateful for the time we have to be more playful and enjoy each others company.

Preparing-for-31days-of-Creative-Lettering-CreativLEI.com_With that in mind, I thought I could use Saturdays to give you a quick recap on my second October challenge – #LoveYourLettering with Lisa at Creativlei.com. πŸ™‚

Day 1

RevolutionofLove.com - #LoveYourLettering Challenge (lettering_day_1b)On the first day, we used washi tape to tape two sheets together so the ink wouldn’t bleed through. Then we added a title page.

(lettering_day_1c)RevolutionofLove.com - #LoveYourLettering Challenge -

The second page was affirmations. I have to especially remember that “it’s okay to make mistakes.” I may or may not have already ripped out 2 pages of my notebook because I messed up! Ahem.

Day 2

RevolutionofLove.com - #LoveYourLettering Challenge - (lettering_day_2A)Day 3 was practice writing in your natural hand. This was a little tough for me since my writing has changed over the years (except for my longhand, that has pretty much stayed the same.) I have a few different ways I like to write so it’s sometimes hard to know what is my natural hand. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

Day 3

RevolutionofLove.com - #LoveYourLettering Challenge - (lettering_day_3A)Day 3, today, was practicing basic letter forms. I was getting flashbacks of my grammar school days. I purposely made myself sit up straight, placed my book at an angle and with my left hand holding it steady and practiced the strokes like a determined first grader. It was fun and I noticed better control over the pen and it’s movement. πŸ™‚

Well, that’s it for this week. Next Saturday I’ll recap again. Have a great Saturday!

31 Days of Gratitude (2015) Day 2: Showers of Mercy

RevolutionofLove.com - 31 Days of Gratitude 2015 (31 days15_day2A.jpg)Last night as I feel asleep I could hear the soft patter of rain outside my window. Normally, that has been a soothing, even romantic sound to me. However, when you are living through a drought the sound of rain also brings a big sigh of “Oh, thank God!” Our beautiful but parched land of California desperately needs every drop of rain it can get and I’m grateful for the showers that continued in the morning.

RevolutionofLove.com - 31 Days of Gratitude 2015(31_days15_day2c)Another reason I love the rain is that it always reminds me of God’s mercy washing over parched hearts. Just as the rain nourishes the flowers that bloom, God’s mercy refreshes the soul and breathes new life.

So today I will be grateful for the rain that sustains the earth and for God’s grace that sustains my soul. Blessed be His name.

What are you especially grateful for today?

31 Days of Gratitude 2015 (Day 1): Introduction

RevolutionofLove.com - 31 Days of Gratitude 2015 (logo_31_days_2015)

For the second year, I will be participating in the 31 Days Writing Challenge. If it is new to you, here are the details from write31days.com.

31 Days is an online writing challenge started by home blogger, Myquillyn Smith (The Nester) and now hosted by Crystal Stine, where bloggers pick one topic and write a post on that topic every day in October.

I had so much fun doing 31 Days of Gratitude (with photos and words) last year, I decided to do it again.

My inspiration for this year is this quote:

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessing.” –Β  William Arthur Ward.

I want to remember that all the time, especially when I am complaining about doing something I don’t want to do. By looking at the situation differently, I can always find a reason to be grateful and recognize God’s blessings.

That is what I will be working on the next 31 days – using gratitude to change my ordinary day into an opportunity for joy and blessing. I hope you’ll join me on the journey. πŸ™‚

I’ll be posting each day on the blog but this page will be my landing page with links of each post for easy reference.

(To read last year’s posts, visit 31 Days of Gratitude 2014.)

Have a blessed day and I’ll be seeing you for the next 31 days! (Hopefully…) πŸ˜‰

31 Days of Gratitude (Day 30 & 31): All Hallows Eve

The 31 Days of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 30 – 31 of my 31 Days of Gratitude.

Revolution of Love Blog - 31_days_day_31It’s the last day of my 31 Days of Gratitude! It has been a difficult but a fun venture. I was hoping to have a nice reflective post to end the series but instead it is the end of a lovely Halloween day. The kids had a lot of fun at their school Halloween party and mini carnival. We had plans to go trick or treating later but it has been raining all day – not the usual sprinkles but a steady downpour. Since the kids already had sacks of candy from school we stayed indoors and watched movies instead. Right now the kids are fast asleep and I am on the couch watching Death at Pemberley with Brian and my own parents. I love having them here. It was a last minute whim that I invited them up but they were able to come. Having them to myself for the weekend is a blessing. For that, I am truly grateful.
