31 Days of Gratitude & Online Daybook (10/20/15): Gratitude & A Brian Update

Revolution of Love - logo_daybook_4The 31 Day of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 20 of my 31 Days of Gratitude 2015.

Grateful for…

  • An hour to myself after some very busy days.
  • For Brian’s good doctor’s report.
  • That my stomach bug has passed.
  • Electricity (When it is gone you realize how much you rely on it!)

Praying for..

  • The intentions of many friends.
  • Victims of the recent floods and fires.
  • Victims of abuse and domestic violence.
  • The conversion of hearts back to God.
  • All pregnant moms, those trying to get pregnant, those who have lost their babies and for moms contemplating an abortion.
  • The souls in purgatory, especially family, friend and those most forgotten.

Pondering…

My selfishness. Let’s face it, we are all selfish to some degree, some of us more than others. I know that I am especially guilty. I’ll admit that I really like helping people. I like making them smile and brightening their day BUT I have to want to do it or be in the mood to do it. I don’t like when my plans are interrupted or I have to stop what I am doing for the hundredth time to clean up spilled milk, wipe a dirty rear end, stop a fight or pick up meds for my in-laws. God gives me ample opportunity to chip away at that selfishness and to surrender my will to Him.

Yesterday, God must have been pouring out the grace on me because I was able to stop, drop and roll with the punches and without the usual grumbling and eye rolling. (The power of Confessional grace, baby!) However, by late afternoon I could feel myself being pushed to the limit and my impatience was bubbling up. I was thinking to myself, yeah, this Pollyanna trying to be grateful and looking on the bright side of things is starting to suck. I could feel my selfishness and “woe is me” attitude trying to claw its way back to the top. I had to remind myself to turn back to God…to utter a prayer for more grace in the midst of the noise. I had to squelch the desire to just yell and lose it. Thankfully, more grace came and I pulled through.

I sometimes wonder, is it always going to be this hard? But as I look back on my life I realize that I am at a place when it actually matters to me. I am actually working on it and trying to grow. That is a lot better than the days when I didn’t care. I will most likely always struggle as long as I am human but I’d like to think that I am making progress and and at least realizing the key to getting through – continuously relying on God’s grace.

Around the House…

I washed the breakfast dishes (although now that I think about it, I think I left last night’s dirty pan in the oven) and there’s a load of laundry washing so I’d call that progress. πŸ˜‰

Family Chit Chat…

Yesterday Brian had his 3 month appointment with his oncologist to check his blood work. Everything checked out and was in the normal range (although I think his red blood count was on the lower side of normal so we can work on that) and his organs looked good so, for now, there are no signs of the cancer returning. He’ll go back in another 3 months for routine scans and if he passes those, he’ll be one year cancer free.I am so, so grateful that Brian is continuing to do well. Frankly, I can’t think about the cancer too much or I’ll start freaking out with the “what ifs.” We’ve just got to keep on moving forward and re-committing to do all we can to live healthy.

Watching…

(At the Movies)

bridge_of_spiesThe other night I saw Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks. The reviews I read were raving and I was intrigued. I went into the movie wanting to love it and while I enjoyed it, it didn’t move me as much as I thought it would. To be complete honest I was feeling tired (and nearly 2 1/2 hours was pretty long for a movie) so that could have affected my judgment or maybe I was just not in the mood for a drama but it just didn’t grab me. That being said, the movie is still definitely worth watching and it made me want to read more about the time and the struggles of people living in East Berlin. It also made me wonder how I would act if I were in situations like the characters – the lawyer defending the spy, his wife, the pilot. It’s thought-provoking. Did you see the movie? Did you like it? What other movies have you seen lately?

(On Youtube)

The Star Wars trailer. Naturally. (I refuse to say Natch.)

7 Quick Takes (10/16/15): Gratitude, #write31days & Theme Thursday

RevolutionofLove.com - (logo_7_quick_takes_c)

The 31 Day of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 16 of my 31 Days of Gratitude 2015.

I’m linking up with Kelly for 7 Quick Takes and Micaela for Theme Thursday. (Scroll to #5)

~ 1 ~

Happy Friday, everyone! I am feeling a little better today (I have a stomach bug), the kids are off of school today and they are playing relatively quietly with their Legos so I have about 20 minutes uninterrupted time until I have to break up a fight or tell them to stop jumping off he bunk beds. So let’s get this done! (Warning, I will be listening to copious amounts of Silversun Pickups while writing.)

~ 2 ~

It is day 16 of #wrtie31days and my theme of 31 Days of Gratitude. I have actually posted every day so far and that in itself is an accomplishment for me. Usually I am all gung-ho about something and then a few days into it the novelty wears off and I’m ready to leave and jump into a new shinier project. Yeah, it’s not a pretty trait but it is something I am constantly working on. Thankfully God has been giving me the grace to learn how to persevere and follow through. It is not easy and I have a long way to go but for God’s grace and the baby steps and progress I’ve made, I am truly thankful!

~ 3 ~

I finally got my #write31days tee in the mail yesterday. Cristina over at HandmaidEmbroidery.com challenged us to take a selfie with our tee so here it is. πŸ˜‰

Theme-Thursday-4-1024x683I was catching up on some blogs yesterday and I saw that Micaela has taken over hosting duties of the Theme Thursday photo challenge. I will miss Cari’s hosting but I can’t think of a better person to carry on. Micaela is one of those people that amazes me with her talents. πŸ˜‰ (I also got to meet here at the CWBNCA in spring. Heck, when is our next conference?? I am missing you guys!)

This week’s theme is sun flares. The sun is not out now so I’ll post this one I took the other day.

I don’t really like the way it came out (too dark) but it has the sun flares.

And speaking of awesome blog link up hosts, Kelly’s Link-toberfest continues! This week’s question is “Who is your favorite blogger that you discovered through Quick Takes?”

best_bibTo be honest with you, it’s hard for me to remember who I originally met through 7 Quick Takes but I do know that a favorite blogger I started reading regularly because of 7QT is the awesome Karianna Frey! Back then she blogged at Caffeinated Catholic Mama. She has since started a new blog Best Bib and Tucker.

I love Karianna’s energy and style but when I met her in real life in spring at the CWBNCA Conference 2015 then that sealed the deal! I love reading her blog and watching her Periscopes. πŸ™‚

7 Quick Takes (10/12/15): The Monday Edition – Gratitude & Reminiscing

seven-quick-takes-friday-2

The 31 Day of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 12 of my 31 Days of Gratitude 2015.

~ 1 ~

Today started out as one of those days where it seems like everything was going wrong – we woke to an ant invasion, my blog had been hacked and I couldn’t get my WP back up to work properly. As I was trying to take a quick 2 minute shower to deal with the growing list of problems, I tried to look on the bright side of things. I imagined worse things that could be happening and suddenly the hill didn’t seem so big and I could climb it. I prayed for God’s grace and a few hours (and a few cuss words later) the ants were killed, the blog restored and the back up achieved. Whew. Plus, the kids were off school today so I didn’t have my usual daily grind of taxi driving all over the place. I count that as something to be thankful for!

~ 2 ~

I completely forgot about Kelly’s big Link-toberfest on her blog until this morning. I already missed last week’s question so I’ll just double up and catch up today. Last week Kelly asked, “When did you post your first Quick Takes?” That was on 7/11/09.

RevolutionofLove.com (ba_kids_7_27_09)I was 7 months pregnant with John-Paul (Matthew was still a couple of years away) and I so excited about it! Ha, look at that beach ball belly!

~ 3 ~

Here is a summary of what I talked about in my very first Quick Takes.

  1. Β I talked about having no energy to even get out of my chair so I was going to “give the quick take Friday thing a try” and that I just received Pampered Chef items wanted to make the mini-quiches.
  2. I was super excited that my mom was flying up from Southern California to help me with some pre-baby things but I was just happy to have her around and hear her laughter.
  3. I was planning a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
  4. I finished an Agatha Christy novel and was starting Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.
  5. I said I was leery to watch remakes of the old classics. For example, the new version of The Women was so bad I couldn’t finish it. Instead, I love the 1939 version with Norma Shearer and Joan Crawford. It’s interesting to see how certain elements of human behavior remains the same no matter what the era.
  6. I was listening to Matt Kearney’s City of Black and White. I said I loved the “disc.” That must have been before simply downloading to your playlist.)Β  πŸ˜‰
  7. Lastly, I was singing the praises of Brian. I said,”He works so hard for us and even when he is tired he’ll help me out with the kids or cleaning the shower or scrubbing toilets because it is hard for me to bend over with my growing belly and he doesn’t want me smelling cleaner fumes. Sometimes I forget that it’s all the little things he does that says he loves me.” Some things never change. He still rocks and I am still totally blessed!

~ 4 ~

This week’s question was how many Quick Takes have we posted? This will be #108. πŸ™‚

~ 5 ~

I was just talking about goals last week when I shared my October Goals and Kelly mentioned that she is starting a Facebook group for goal keeping encouragement. It’s described as “A fun group of gals helping each other reach their goals through encouragement and the occasional kneecap breaking.” LOL. Sign me up. πŸ˜‰

~ 6 ~

Okay, my time is up and I have to get dinner on the table. A big thanks to Kelly for hosting and keeping the 7QT fun alive and well, even for those who don’t get around to it until Monday. πŸ˜‰

~ 7 ~

(Yeah, I know this is a cheat take by signing off but I think you’ll live.)

Pinterest Party & Link-up (vol 40): Planner Edition – A Look at My (Erin Condren) Planner

The 31 Day of Writing Challenge continues. It’s Day 6 of my 31 Days of Gratitude 2015. Second, it is the first Tuesday of the month so today is our Pinterest Party – Planner’s Edition!RevolutionofLove.com - Pinterest Party & Link-up - Planner Edition(logo_pinterest_party_planner)

Join me for a Pinterest Party every first Tuesday of the month as we link up and pin it, create it, and inspire others to do the same. Recipes and crafty ideas are encouraged but think outside the box too. Think organizing ideas, birthday themes, a cute outfit, a new hairstyle, marriage tips, life inspiration, traveling destinations, a great quote – anything you’d post to Pinterest.

Show us how you didn’t just pin it but brought it to life!

Not on Pinterest? No problem. Link-up your own creation to inspire us so we can pin in to our own boards. Don’t have a post ready? The link-up will be open for a month so there’s still time. Plus, feel free to link up a new post or an older post that hasn’t had much traffic lately. πŸ™‚ (If you want to grab the button, scroll to the bottom.)

This month is a special Pinterest Party because it is the PLANNER EDITION! Whether you are a planner addict (raises hand) or a newbie just starting to plan, we want to hear from you! If you are a blogger, add the link to your planner post. If you aren’t a blogger let us know in the comments what kind of planner you are using and what you love most about it. πŸ™‚

* * * * *

Here is a look at my planner…

RevolutionofLove.com - A look at my EC Planner (2015-16)(logo_planner_16_A)Maybe it is because I am getting older but I have been thinking a lot about how precious our time on earth is and how quickly the days can escape us. The busyness of family life can make it easy for days, weeks, even months fly by and we find ourselves asking, “How is it already a new month??” The hours of my life are precious. I can show my gratitude for each new day by using those hours wisely.

That is not always easy for me to do. I am often guilty of wasting too much time. I am all for having down time, play time and me-time but I want to make sure I am getting all my priorities done first and not letting them fall through the cracks while I get sucked into a rabbit hole of social media or Netflix binging.

One way I combat this is through my planner. If you know me, then you also know that I love making lists and if I don’t write it down, I won’t remember it five minutes later. Literally.

In 2013,Β  I was using a Martha Steward Discbound planner (which is sadly no longer available for purchase) and I loved everything about it except that it was too big to carry around with me everywhere. Because I spend a lot of time out of the house, I needed something that was more portable.

In 2014, I switched to a new Erin Condren planner. I thought I would hate a spiral planner since I couldn’t add to it the same way as a binder or discbound but it has not been a problem at all. I loved the layout and portability so much that this is my second year with an Erin Condren Life Planner.

I prefer my planners to run like the school year from September to August so in September I set up my new planner. (It was like Christmas for me.) πŸ˜‰

I love that EC Planners come with removable covers and I can change them according to season (or my mood.) Last year I had the Favorite Things cover.

RevolutionofLove.com - A Look at My EC Planner (planner_16_l)This year I went with the “life in little squares” cover using some of my favorite Instagram photos.

Another draw of the EC Planners is all the colors. I don’t like planners with plain black and white pages. I like bright colors that make me want to actually use the planner.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_B)In my monthly spread, I use washi tape to make color coded small squares. Blue are doctor appointments and speech therapy. Green is school related. Red is an event I need to attend or drive the kids to. Orange is a family birthday.

I write the definite items in ink and possible dates and notes in pencil. However, one thing I did not like about using markers or pens is that if I made a mistake, I couldn’t erase it like a pencil. Well, until now! I finally found a solution but I’ll get into that in a bit when I talk about favorite tools.

The weekly page is where people can really go to town to decorate and fill the boxes with all sorts of decor. Me? I seriously just need a space for my To Do lists. It probably looks a little more like a bullet journal but it works for me.

Revolution of Love Blog - planner_2015_cThis is how the weekly page looked last year. The three boxes were labeled as Morning, Day and Night.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_c2)(planner_16_c2)This year the calendar is still divided up into three sections but it is no longer labeled as – Morning, Day and Night. Instead it is blank, which I love since my top box is for places I have to be that day. The middle box is for things I really need to try and do that day. The last box is for things I should do but it’s okay if I wait until later.

This year you also have the option of ordering a planner with your days going horizontally instead of vertically.

The new EC planners also no longer have that little circle decor going down the side or the mini calendar in the top left corner (which I never really used) and instead it is a spot for your own weekly quote of inspiration. I use a little washi and a sticker or two for decor and that is enough for me.

In the last bottom section I keep track of my dinner menu and posts that I will publish on the blog that day. The right side column is for goals and notes.

Other differences from last year’s layout:

There is no longer a quote at the top of each monthly calendar. Instead there is a lined sheet for notes and a full inspirational quote page at the beginning of each month.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_c2) (planner_16_f)Hey, that’s pretty darn close to my blog’s tag line! πŸ˜‰

The front of the planner also has a new goal section, which I love.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_c2) (planner_16_d)As readers of my blog know, for the last year I have been really big on making goals. I have my larger yearly goals and smaller monthly goals that help me make progress in smaller steps. I added into my planner my yearly goals in the 5 areas of my beingΒ  – as a Daughter of God, a Wife, a Mom, a Homemaker and a Woman. The sixth box has one of my favorite quotes. “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” – St. Catherine of Sienna.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_c2)(planner_16_e) I wanted to put my monthly goals on the second page but there was only the one sheet of paper. So I made a color copy and added it to my planner with EC coil clips. This way, each month I can add my smaller monthly goals to my planner. That is so helpful to me.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_c2)The back of the planner still has lined, decorative blank (and now) graph pages.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_g)The one thing I don’t like is that there are less pages than there were in last year’s version. Yet, the spiral ring is larger. It’s not so much larger that it is a deal breaker but I would have liked more sheets to go with it. On the plus side, the larger (and sturdy) spiral let’s you add more of your own sheets with the coils

These two photos are from last year’s model but they are basically the same.

Revolution of Love Blog - planner_2015_hA Look Ahead calendar.

Revolution of Love Blog - planner_2015_iStickers – both pre-labeled and blank.
RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_i-)There is still a pocket for papers, a perpetual calendar to keep the dates of birthdays and dates to remember and a few free goodies in a pocketed pouch.
RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_k)As an extra, I purchased a pen loop and a separate tablet that sticks to the back of the planner. I use these for notes to school or my own scribblings.

I also had an EC gift card so I added a couple extra items.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_m)Post-it notes that pop into the planner. (I love me some post its!)

Favorite Planner Tools

Revolution of Love.com - A Look at My EC Planner (planner_16_r) The green is the thicker line (I don’t know the exact size since the description isn’t in English. The pink line is .7 thick.

Erasable Markers

As I already mentioned, my new favorite planner tool are these erasable markers/pens. I first saw these markers on a Periscope by Tina of Zoo Cuties. At first I bought the smaller Pilot Frixion Colors Erasable Marker – 12 Color set because they were less expensive and I wasn’t sure if I would like them or not. I kept envisioning those erasable ball point pens that were popular when I was in grade school – the were smudgy and made a mess. However, these Frixion pens did not smudge at all. The only way they erases is with the special eraser at the top of the pen or you could purchase an eraser separately.

I loved the pens but I didn’t check the size and they wrote a little thick for the small boxes of the calendar. I went back to Amazon and purchased the Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Ink Pens, 0.7mm, Assorted Colors, 24/Pack. Although it was more expensive I knew it would be worth it because they were exactly what I was looking for.

The next time I place an Amazon order I’m going to get the Pilot Frixion Ball Knock 4-Color Gel Ink Multi-Pen for my purse or to hook onto my planner. πŸ˜‰

Charmsanne_charm2

There are tons of charms and elastic bands you can get for your planner. Someone asked me where I got the St. Anne charm on my planner. It is from Tiny Saints. Since St. Anne is my patron saint (for non-Catholics, that’s basically someone in heaven I especially like to ask to pray for me), the patron of moms and my middle name namesake, I thought it only fitting.Β  There are lots of other saint charms to choose from as well.

RevolutionofLove, com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_o)Planning Tote

During the day if I am not within reach of my planner then I’ll write a note on my iPhone (which is usually in my pocket.) A lot of people like to review their planners in the morning but I am a night owl and prefer to review my planner the night before each day. That is when I’ll write down any notes from my phone into my master paper planner.

Some people like to just keep a digital planner and always have it with them on their phone. I tried that but I am a paper girl. I need to feel the physical touch of pen and paper. It’s what works for me.

To hold all key planning supplies, I use this cute little square tote I found at the Target dollar section for $3. I went back later to get another but they were sold out. I’m glad I at least got this one. In the evening I grab it along with my LapDesk (similar to this one) and sit on the couch with Brian after the kids go to bed. He’ll read a little while I update my planner then we’ll watch a movie or TV show. It helps me unwind and regroup for the next day.

Washi Storage

planner_16_sI have 5 rolls of washi that I use all the time in my planner tote (and duplicates in my traveling office). For all my other rolls of washi, I found this flat 12 x 12 cardboard box at Michael’s.

RevolutionofLove.com - A Look at my EC Planner (planner_16_q)I cut empty paper towel tubes in half and lined up the washi on top to keep them from rolling around. It may not be glamorous but it works great.

Oldies but Goodies

Revolution of Love Blog -planner_2015_mLastly, I still use my EC planner pouch. (Pictured here with last years planner.)

Along with my planner I am still using my traveling office. πŸ™‚

Other Planner Option

I’ve been using the Erin Condren planner for two years now and I still love it but that’s just me. There are so many styles to choose from.

Create 365 Happy Planner

If you like the style of the Erin Condren but it’s out of your budget, then try a Plumb Planner or a Create 365 Happy Planner.

Or maybe all this planner decor and colors is overload to your sense and you like your planner to be streamlined. My sister BCM (who for years was the clean Felix to my very messy Oscar) likes her planners plain and simple. She purchased the Medium Monthly Planner from MochiThings. It suits her perfectly and is beautiful in its simplicity.

RevolutionofLove.com - A Look at my EC planner(planner_16_p) Traveler’s notebooks are also really popular right now. It wouldn’t work as my everyday planner but I love it for my Simplified Organization brain dumpsΒ  and for some Listers Gotta List fun and favorite memories of the month.

I’ll have to make a separate post about my traveler’s notebook . πŸ˜‰

My 2014 discbound planner.

If you like full size pages, try a discbound (like Arc) from Staples and print off your own planner printables. There are tons of free planners and really cute ones to purchase on etsy and elsewhere. Browse Pinterest and find your faves. (If you make and sell planners leave a link of your shop in the comments so we can check it out.)

Online Daybook (9/22/15): Downton, Star Wars and Blog Bashing

Revolution of Love - logo_daybook_4

I feel like it has been forever since last posting. Life has been busy. Here is a quick Online Daybook to catch you up. πŸ™‚

Grateful for…

  • Having a school for my kids that I trust.
  • More time to myself to get things done.
  • Support of friends.
  • The love of my family.
  • A visit from my parents last week.
  • A phone call from my mom this morning.
  • Running water. (Ours was out on Saturday.)

Praying for..

  • The intentions of many friends.
  • Those who have lost loved ones.
  • Immigrants and victims of war.
  • Victims of abuse and domestic violence.
  • The conversion of hearts back to God.
  • An end to the fires burning in CA (especially the local fire here) and WA.
  • People to disagree respectfully without feeling the need to tear others down with hurtful words and actions.
  • All pregnant moms, those trying to get pregnant, those who have lost their babies and for moms contemplating an abortion.
  • The souls in purgatory, especially family, friend and those most forgotten.

Pondering…

I’m thinking about miscarriages. It seems like lately so many of my friends are suffering the loss of a child, whether early on or well into their pregnancies. For those who are new here, Brian and I were married in ’99 and it took a year to conceive our daughter Bella in 2001. In the years following we dealt with secondary infertility and the two times I was able to get pregnant, we lost both babies. Even though we lost them early, it hit me hard. Harder than anything else I had experienced prior. We prayed and felt our babies were boys so we named them Victor (my husband’s middle name) and Joseph (my husband’s patron saint.)

Every morning we pray a litany to our family saints (all our namesakes) and it’s only recently that I felt we should add saints Baby Victor and Baby Joseph to our litany. I explained to the kids who they were and that they have two more siblings in heaven praying for them each day. (As an aside, we were able to correct my fertility problems after my second miscarriage and we had three little guys in a row.)

It has been almost a decade now and while I am at peace with our babies being in heaven, every once in awhile (when a loved one has a miscarriage) the pain sweeps over me all over again. But I don’t mind now since it reminds me of how close they are to my heart despite our distance from one another.

If you have lost a baby, even if it was very early, don’t feel bad about grieving for your baby. Name your child (or call them “Baby Your Last Name.” Ask them to pray for you each day so that one day you can be reunited with them in God’s kingdom.

Around the House…

The house is much more picked up these days since we have set times in the day when the kids have to do a 5-minute clean up of the key messy areas of the house. There will always be the stray legos to plague my feet and the endless plastic superheroes lurking in the corners but it is much better than it was before. Baby steps, my friends. Baby steps.

Family Chit Chat…

It has been an eventful week! Last week my parents came up for a visit just in time for Grandparents Day at the kids’ school. They were so excited to recite their poems, sing their songs, dance their moves and show off their work. I’m not a huge fan of school performances in general but it was nice to see my parents just as excited as the kids to share it with them. Of course, I relished having time with my family. We are close and it sometimes hurts to be separated from them after living so many years under one crazy and loud roof. But luckily 400 miles is no more than a 7 hour drive (with bathroom breaks.)

Well, not to get too spoiled, this weekend we were given the opportunity to really appreciate things we take for granted – like running water! A city water main broke and we were without water for a day. It may not seem like long but the logistics of 6 people in a house without a flushing toilet can get rough. Note to self – Fill up some empty gallon bottles with tap water for flushing emergencies! Thankfully this morning we are all showered and have properly flushed.

In the Kitchen…

I’m going back to trying one new recipe each week in hopes to build up our sometimes boring meal rotation. This week I made chicken quesadillas (a no-brainer) with a salad that had Creamy Lime Dressing.

Watching…

(At the Movies)

I haven’t been to the movies in awhile but Brian said I should take the night off and go see something. Well, you don’t have t twist my arm…so I am thinking Mission Impossible or The Visit. Any thoughts?

(On Youtube)

Have you ever given your kids your phone so they can make a movie on it? Then as they show it to you, you think that it is absurd yet kinda funny and you love it anyway because of who made it. That’s what I felt about these Downton Abbey and Star Wars mashups. (I know, right!?) The second one is worth watching just to catch all the Downton Abbey character cameos. Hilarious. (Thanks to Emmy for the heads up.)

Listening to …

I recently found the band Silversun Pickups. I love their older music and look forward to their upcoming release Better Nature (9/25) that includes this song – Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance).

Reading…

These are on my nightstand now.

I’m embarrassed to admit that these are still sitting on my nightstand getting lonely since I read before bedtime and average about 1/2 a page before knocking out.

I’m also trying to finish all the half read books on my night stand, which includes Jennifer Fulwilers book Something Other Than God.

In the blogosphere…

I haven’t had time to read many of my favorite blogs but there has been a lot of talk lately about a certain blog and forum where people “hate read” blogs and then bash them. There are numerous categories, including “annoying Catholics.” Some of my friends and fellow bloggers were listed and ridiculed.Β  I spent about 20 minutes on the site and had more than my fill.

I usually always try to see both sides of a story and while I understand why people may not like certain bloggers, how they write, what they believe or how they live their lives, what I don’t understand is this obsessive need to live out the “mean girl” attitude and spewing out hateful words with so much anger. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Life is too damn short to waste your hours on that kind of negativity.

And it’s not just on this website but you see this nastiness all over – online and in real life, and from both sides. (I get just as sick to hear Christians bashing “non-believers” and spewing their own brand of hatred.) Instead of disagreeing and making a logical point, people feel the need to use snark and hateful words to tear a person down.

I know we don’t live in a big Kumbaya world and our beliefs will make us targets for those that hate the Church, but for my part, I am all for a sisterhood of building each other up rather than tearing each other down. We don’t have to agree with one another but I hope that I will always be respectful of you and vice versa.

This blog is too small and insignificant to affect anyone outside of my family and circle of friends but if you are reading this and you hate this blog, it’s content, me, my family, my beliefs and you don’t want to agree to disagree, then I’m truly sorry…but don’t let me waste anymore of your time. Just click the little X or the little red button at the top corner and I won’t bother you anymore.

The latest on Instagram (since my mom’s not on there and she wants to see.) πŸ˜‰

RevolutionofLove.com - cwa_collage_9_15

1 – I woke up to smoke in the air from a fire in a nearby town. Offering prayers for our firefighters and the victims of all the CA (and elsewhere) fires.

2 – #projectblessed – Perfect. It’s a perfect day for a lunch date with my honey.

3 – #projectblessed -colors. I originally was going to just print a copy of the Holy Spirit prayer but then I started playing with colors, fonts and clip art and made this printable instead.

4 – #projectblessed – Dark. Thank God I am feeling much better now and was able to go to Target for some medicine (and Force Friday.) Matthew and I took a quick photo with Chewie. Our family will always be fighting the dark side.

5 – #projectblessed -Blue. Yesterday I was feeling blue because I had no energy to do my chores, let alone read, go online or work on my traveler’s notebook. I just wanted to sleep. I hate being sick.

6 – While Matthew was at school I showered, washed my hair and wore it down to pick him up at noon. After getting him he does a double take and says, “What the heck is going on with your hair?” Hahaha! I guess he’s only used to me wearing it up.

7 – WIDN – Tagged by @ordinarylovely and @betweenthebobseins. I have the next hour completely to myself so I want to put some of my bday gifts to use. Should I write a letter to a friend, paint my nails, pretty my planner or go to Target and then lunch. Decisions, decisions!!

8 – Tagged by @callherhappy for WIDN. I’m making fajitas, guacamole and salsa to eat with the yummiest chips! They are new at our Whole Foods. They are from a local company, non-GMO, and delicioso!

9 – The photo came out a little dark but here’s a bottle of Cholula on my kitchen window sill. I don’t use it but it reminds me of my dad and 5 brothers. (The flowers remind me of my mom and sisters.)

So that’s what I’ve been up to lately! What about you? What’s currently happening in your life? Do share.

Have a great week!
